Text on a light background reads "10 minutes of crochet per day" in brown, cursive font with underlining. Mood is motivating.
The secret to actually finishing that crochet project.

Have you ever had analysis paralysis… but make it crochet? You buy the yarn. You dream up the perfect pattern. Maybe you even start — but then stall. You overthink the stitch choice, the colour changes, the “what if it’s not good enough.” And suddenly, that project is sitting untouched in the corner like a sad little yarn ghost.

Here’s the truth:Waiting for inspiration means you might create well... never. There, I said it.

We tend to romanticise the idea of being “inspired” — as if creativity is some magical wind that floats in and transforms us into productive geniuses. But in reality? Most of the magic happens after you start.

Even if you just show up for 10 minutes of crochet per day, something shifts.Momentum begins to build. And that momentum? It has a sneaky little superpower: it generates its own motivation.

Suddenly, the project you’ve been avoiding feels a little easier. You find yourself thinking about it while folding laundry or waiting in traffic. New ideas pop into your head without effort. You get excited again. You actually want to finish👏 the 👏 project 👏

The truth is, crochet isn’t always about grand reveals or full days of uninterrupted stitching. It’s about plugging away. Little by little. Stitch by stitch. So if your project is staring at you from the basket, this is your sign:Pick it up. Ten minutes. That’s it. Momentum is waiting — and it starts with just one stitch.

Stay crafty,

Jennine

Hello Crochet Friend!

The holiday season is here, and with it comes the pressure of gift-giving! Handmade gifts are wonderful, but let’s take a moment to focus on you.

Have you been feeling overwhelmed by all the "quick Christmas crochet ideas" on your feed, making it seem like you need to create something for every person on your family tree?

Think about this: Crochet doesn't have to be about quick projects or giving everything away. It’s your hobby—something that brings you joy, mindfulness, and growth. Handmade gifts are special, but maybe you don’t need to make one for everyone. How about rotating who gets one each year?

Most importantly, it’s okay to crochet for yourself too. So let's make a deal, why not take 10 minutes a day to work on something just for you? Whether it’s finishing a WIP, starting a new project, or just enjoying the process without any pressure, this crochet time can just be for you to recharge.

Cheers,

Jennine

P.S. What’s on your hook for YOU right now? DM on Instagram and let me know—I’d love to cheer you on!

Hello Crochet Friends!

If you had the chance to read my last blog, I talked about the concept of keeping your crochet time to 10 mins a day to get your project done sooner!

Well, hear me out as I expand on that idea. If you are a creature of habit, you may have already worked this one out. Help your future self out by preparing for those 10 mins.

The idea is that when you actually physically sit down to crochet, you are ready. Like hook in hand project starts straight away. Not “oh I need to pull the lounge apart to find my hook” kinda ready. Not “Oh I'll just go print that pattern now and reload the printer ink” kinda ready.

I mean R E A D Y!

I always encourage makers to pick their favourite spot to crochet. Whether that means at a table with your iPad set up or on the lounge with your kitty.  Grab yourself a basket, bucket or bag and prepare everything, I mean everything you  will need to create your current project. Think about all the tools you might need including scissors and measuring tape, your pattern and definitely your glasses!

Having your kit set up and ready to go means those valuable 10 mins a day will be dedicated solely to stitch making and plugging away at your crochet project!

Cheers,

Jennine
