Linen Stitch Tote Bag

Materials: 

Passtime Crafts, Cotton Rope, 370g (100 % Cotton, 275m/300yds, 2mm gauge) Mustard x 2 cones.

5.5mm/ I-9 US K Crochet Hook 

4 removable stitch markers 

2 D-rings 

1 bag Strap with metal clip 

Large eye needle 

Scissors 


Gauge: 17 sts x 16 rows = 10cm/4” 


Abbreviations: 

BLO: Single crochet through back loop only 

CH: Chain 

CH-SP: Chain Space

REP: Repeat

SC: Single Crochet 

SK: Skip

Sl St : Slip Stitch 

ST(S): Stitch(es)


Pattern Notes:

1. Pattern is worked in a continuous round after Rnd 1. 

2. CH 1 does not count as stitch

3.Place marker in first st of round to mark the beginning of round. Move the marker up each round.


Pattern Directions 

Ch 51 sts. 

Rnd 1: SC into the second CH from hook and in each CH across to last CH, SC 3 into last CH, working on opposite side of foundation row, SC in each CH across to last CH, SC 2 in last CH, join with a SL ST. (102 STS)

Rnd 2: CH 1, SC in each ST around. 

Rnd 3: CH 1, [SC, SK 1 ST, CH 1] REP around.

Rnd 4: [SC into CH-1 space, CH 1] REP around.

REP Rnd 4 for 47 rounds or until your tote measures 30cm (12 in) 

To create handles: Place stitch markers in st 20, 31, 71, and 82. The stitch markers should be centered on the front and back of the bag. This is where the handle opening will be created. Be sure to move stitch markers up each round.

 Rnd 5: CH 1, [SC, CH 1] REP to stitch marker, SC in marked ST, SC 10, SC in next marked ST; REP from once, CH 1, [SC, CH 1] REP to end.

Rnd 6: CH 1, [SC, CH 1] REP to stitch marker, SC in marked ST, CH 10, SC in next marked ST; REP from once, CH 1, [SC, CH 1] REP to end. Remove stitch markers

Rnd 7: CH 1, [SC, CH 1] until stitch marker, SC in marked ST, SC 10 in CH-10 SP, SC in next marked ST; REP from once, CH 1, [SC, CH 1] REP to end. Remove stitch markers

Rnd 8-9: CH 1, [SC, CH 1] REP around.


To attach D-rings: With 4 stitch markers, mark the sides of the bag between stithes 48, 52 and 98, 102, making sure markers are centered on the sides of the bag. 

Rnd 10: CH 1, [SC, CH 1] REP to stitch marker, join to D-ring by SC 5 around ring; REP from once, CH 1, [SC, CH 1] REP to end. 

Rnd 11-12: CH 1, [SC, CH 1] REP to end. 

Rnd 13: SC in each ST around. 

Fasten off and weave in ends. Clip bag strap to D-rings. Enjoy!
